Welcome!

The goal of the institute is to develop leadership skills in Oregon's high school migrant students.   It exposes participants to college life and encourages them to attend.  They are also encouraged to be proud of their heritage and to build goals towards their future.  An expectation is for students to return and give back to their communities.

This site captures a small sample of the spirit of OMLI.  It is a place for participants to share their voice.  They meet for 3 1/2 hours and bring some of their experiences alive through videos and writing.  By participating in video making and blogging, they problem solve, work together as a team, display creativity, and share!   In week 1, participants created Where I Am From Poems.  In Weeks 2-3, more student choice was incorporated and topics represent discussions from the leadership institute to topics of personal choice.

During the 2013 summer, there were three sessions at Oregon State University.  Come explore each of the sessions!
Navigate the site via the links on the side or at the top.  Visit the student sites arranged by sessions.  Feel free to leave encouraging comments for our participants.

Thanks!
